The Printer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of high-volume printing equipment in a state government facility. This role ensures that all printed materials for various state departments, agencies, and public functions are produced efficiently and with high-quality standards. The Printer will perform tasks related to printing, document finishing, and general upkeep of printing machinery.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Operate printing equipment to produce documents, forms, reports, and other printed materials for state government use.
Set up, load, and adjust printing machines according to job specifications, including paper size, type, and ink color, ensuring optimal machine settings and quality output.
Monitor print jobs to ensure proper operation, troubleshooting issues such as paper jams, ink problems, and mechanical malfunctions during the printing process.
Perform quality control checks to ensure all print materials meet established standards of accuracy, color, and clarity.
Integrate relevant technology into training programs to enhance the learning experience (e.g., eLearning platforms, video conferencing, and online assessments).
Ensure that documents are printed within the required timeframes, prioritizing jobs based on urgency and volume.
Regularly perform routine maintenance and cleaning of printing machines and related equipment to ensure smooth operation.
Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve minor issues with printing machinery, including performing minor repairs or replacing parts as needed.
Perform finishing tasks such as folding, binding, stapling, and trimming printed documents to meet specific requirements.
Sort, collate, and organize printed materials for distribution, ensuring correct packaging and labeling of finished products.
Maintain accurate records of printing jobs, including specifications, quantities, and costs associated with each job.
Track and report on printing job completion times, supply usage, and any issues encountered during the printing process.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
In-depth knowledge of printing equipment and machinery, including the ability to operate and troubleshoot high-speed printers, copiers, and finishing devices.
Strong understanding of various paper types, ink, toner, and printing technologies.
Ability to interpret print job specifications and apply the appropriate machine settings to achieve desired results.
Skilled in the setup and calibration of printing machines, including adjusting feed systems, paper paths, and ink levels.
Ability to perform precise document finishing tasks, such as folding, cutting, and binding, while maintaining consistency in output.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple printing projects with varying deadlines.
