Medical Technologist
The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to assist healthcare providers in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This role requires proficiency in laboratory techniques, the ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and the application of scientific principles to produce accurate, reliable test results. The Medical Technologist will ensure high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance while supporting clinical decision-making through precise laboratory testing.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests, including hematology, microbiology, immunology, chemistry, and blood bank procedures.
Analyze test results to detect abnormalities or medical conditions and prepare accurate reports for physicians and other healthcare providers.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and providing accurate results.
Prepare specimens for analysis, including centrifuging, mixing, and processing blood, urine, or other bodily fluids as required.
Document test results, quality control data, and any deviations from standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Expertise in performing and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures, including those related to chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and immunology.
Ability to operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Knowledge of regulatory standards governing medical laboratory testing, including CLIA, HIPAA, and state-specific healthcare regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
An bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
Required Certificates:
Must hold a current Medical Technologist license from the Arkansas Department of Health or other relevant state authority, in accordance with state regulations for clinical laboratory personnel. Certification as a Medical Technologist by a recognized certifying agency such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent is preferred but not required.
