IT Disaster Recovery Analyst

The IT Disaster Recovery Analyst is responsible for performing technical tasks associated with disaster recovery and business continuity efforts. This position involves analyzing and testing recovery plans, performing risk assessments, and assisting in the implementation of backup strategies. The IT Disaster Recovery Analyst works closely with other IT professionals to ensure systems are prepared for potential recovery scenarios and that data integrity is maintained.

Typical Functions:

Assist in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and protocols. Perform risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats to critical IT infrastructure. Support the implementation and testing of disaster recovery procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices. Monitor backup systems to ensure that data is being correctly backed up and is retrievable in case of an emergency. Analyze recovery efforts after a disaster to assess effectiveness and recommend improvements. Participate in disaster recovery drills and real-time recovery operations to gain hands-on experience and improve processes. Document and report on recovery activities and system status for management review.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of disaster recovery methodologies and backup technologies. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and vulnerabilities. Experience in testing and validating disaster recovery systems. Ability to troubleshoot IT systems and restore functionality after disruptions. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established recovery procedures. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with disaster recovery tools and business continuity planning. Experience in conducting risk assessments or vulnerability analysis is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field. At least two years of experience in IT disaster recovery, data backup, or system administration.
