Workforce Deputy Director

The Workforce Deputy Director supports the Director in leading and managing the operations of the Workforce Services Division to develop, implement, and oversee employment programs, workforce development initiatives, and labor market services. This role involves coordinating programs that help individuals access employment opportunities, training, and resources, while also addressing the needs of businesses and industry partners. The Deputy Director acts as a key advisor, policy implementer, and operational leader within the agency, fostering partnerships and promoting economic growth. This classification requires exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a comprehensive understanding of labor market trends and workforce development strategies.

Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Assist in the strategic planning and administration of workforce development programs and services. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing workforce services. Monitor program performance and identify areas for improvement to enhance service delivery. Collaborate with business, community, and educational personnel in an attempt to identify workforce needs and develop tailored programs. Supervise the allocation of resources and manage budgets for workforce programs. Represent the agency at public events, industry meetings, and legislative hearings. Provide guidance and mentorship to personnel, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment. Analyze labor market trends and use data to inform policy and program decisions. Address and resolve challenges related to workforce service operations. Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, industry partners, and a variety of assorted personnel.

Strong leadership and team management skills. Advanced problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of workforce programs, grant management, and regulatory compliance. Ability to build and maintain partnerships with a variety of assorted personnel. Proficiency in data analysis and program evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, economics, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in workforce development, employment services, or a related field. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, preferably within a government or public-sector environment. Strong knowledge of labor market trends, workforce development strategies, and federal and state workforce laws.
