The Welcome Center Manager oversees the daily operations of a state-operated Welcome Center, ensuring that visitors receive high-quality information about Arkansas's attractions, history, culture, and tourism opportunities. This position is responsible for staff supervision, visitor engagement, facility management, and community outreach.

Typical Functions:
Provide leadership and strategic oversight for all Arkansas Welcome Centers, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality visitor services statewide. Supervise and support Welcome Center Managers, setting performance expectations, conducting evaluations, and fostering a culture of excellence in hospitality. Develop and implement statewide standards, policies, and best practices for visitor engagement, information dissemination, and customer service. Lead the planning and execution of comprehensive hospitality training programs for all Welcome Center staff and volunteers, emphasizing Arkansas tourism knowledge and customer service excellence. Monitor and assess the performance of Welcome Centers through data analysis, visitor feedback, and site visits; identify areas for improvement and implement corrective strategies. Coordinate the development, distribution, and maintenance of tourism materials, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with state marketing efforts. Manage staffing plans across all centers, including oversight of recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling, in collaboration with Center Managers. Oversee compliance with safety, accessibility, and operational standards at all locations, ensuring a welcoming, safe, and well-maintained environment. Serve as the primary liaison between Welcome Centers and state tourism leadership, aligning center initiatives with statewide tourism goals and campaigns. Develop and maintain partnerships with regional tourism stakeholders, chambers of commerce, and local attractions to enhance center relevance and engagement. Plan and coordinate special events, statewide promotions, and outreach activities to enhance visitor experiences and promote Arkansas tourism. Prepare and present detailed reports on Welcome Center operations, including visitor statistics, performance metrics, budget expenditures, and strategic outcomes. Administer the central Welcome Center budget, oversee inventory procurement, and ensure fiscal accountability across all locations.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Ability to create a welcoming atmosphere and provide an exceptional visitor experience. Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to address visitor concerns effectively. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in a customer service-oriented environment. Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines. Experience in budget management and operational planning. Familiarity with Arkansas’s tourism industry, attractions, and cultural heritage.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least three years of experience in hospitality management, tourism, business administration, marketing, or a related field, including one year in a leadership capacity.
