Veterans Service Administrator
The Veteran's Services Administrator is responsible for overseeing and managing veteran assistance programs, benefits coordination, and outreach services within the state. This leadership role ensures that veterans, service members, and their families receive the benefits, resources, and support they are entitled to under state and federal regulations.

Typical Functions:
Direct and oversee veteran service programs, benefits claim processing, and outreach initiatives. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance service efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure veterans receive assistance with healthcare, education, employment, housing, and disability benefits. Monitor program performance, funding utilization, and compliance with state and federal guidelines. Serve as the primary advocate for veterans within the state government, promoting legislation and policies that improve veteran services. Foster partnerships with veteran service organizations (VSOs), community groups, and nonprofit agencies. Supervise and provide guidance to Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) and administrative staff. Oversee regional and local veteran service offices, ensuring consistency in service delivery. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws regarding veteran benefits administration. Prepare and present reports, policy recommendations, and funding proposals to government officials. Maintain accurate records and case files to track service outcomes and program effectiveness. Oversee the allocation of state and federal funding to maximize veteran service programs. Develop and manage budgets, grants, and financial reports to ensure responsible fiscal stewardship.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong ability to lead, manage, and direct large-scale veteran programs and services. Proven skills in policy development, program evaluation, and strategic decision-making. In-depth knowledge of veteran benefits, disability claims, healthcare systems, and military service-related issues. Familiarity with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with veterans, legislators, and government agencies. Ability to advocate for veterans’ needs and represent the agency at public meetings and events. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex veteran claims and appeals. Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and staff responsibilities efficiently. Strong attention to detail in documentation, compliance, and benefits coordination.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least five years of experience in veterans’ affairs, social services, public administration, or a related field, including two years in a leadership capacity. Must be an Honorably Discharged Veteran.
