State Hospital Administrator
The State Hospital Administrator is responsible for overseeing the operations, management, and strategic direction of a state-run hospital or healthcare facility. This role involves ensuring the facility delivers high-quality healthcare services in accordance with state and federal regulations, while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff. The State Hospital Administrator will provide leadership in managing resources, directing operations, and developing policies and procedures to ensure the facility's success.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Oversee all hospital operations, ensuring the effective delivery of services in a safe, ethical, and efficient manner. Lead and supervise hospital staff, including medical, nursing, administrative, and support personnel, providing guidance and mentorship. Develop and implement hospital-wide policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring quality care and patient safety. Develop, manage, and monitor the hospital’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and in alignment with strategic priorities. Lead the development and execution of the hospital’s strategic plan, including setting long-term goals, identifying priorities, and adapting to healthcare trends and regulations. Ensure the hospital meets or exceeds all state and federal healthcare regulations, including accreditation requirements from agencies such as the Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Lead initiatives to recruit, retain, and develop skilled healthcare professionals, ensuring that the hospital remains adequately staffed.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Thorough understanding of state and federal healthcare regulations, compliance standards, and accreditation processes. Skilled in managing healthcare emergencies and navigating challenging situations while maintaining a focus on patient and staff safety. Experience in developing and managing hospital budgets, overseeing Medicaid/Medicare billing, and ensuring fiscal accountability, including grant and state appropriations management. Competency in EHR platforms and behavioral health data management, including interoperability and compliance with data reporting requirements Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, implement strategic plans, delegate responsibilities, and manage change in high-pressure environments. Understanding of psychiatric care models, behavioral health systems, and trauma-informed treatment approaches in institutional settings Experience managing dietary service contracts, ensuring compliance with nutritional guidelines for psychiatric patients, monitoring vendor performance, and integrating dietary services into overall patient care and hospital operations. Experience in integrating hospital operations across departments (clinical, administrative, dietary, IT, finance), aligning workflows with strategic goals, and supporting the implementation of enterprise-wide systems and technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least five years of progressively more responsible experience in healthcare administration, with at least three years of management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
