Security Manager

The Security Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, coordination, and implementation of security operations across state-owned facilities, ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and assets. This role provides leadership in the development of policies and procedures, supervises security personnel, and collaborates with internal departments and external law enforcement agencies.

Typical Functions:

Develop, implement, and evaluate agency-wide security strategies, protocols, and procedures in accordance with state policy. Monitor compliance with security regulations, building access controls, and surveillance systems. Conduct regular risk assessments and facility inspections to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. Supervise and schedule security officers or contracted personnel assigned to state facilities. Provide training, guidance, and performance evaluations for staff, ensuring adherence to policies and high standards of conduct. Lead and coordinate response efforts during incidents, emergencies, and drills. Ensure compliance with applicable Arkansas state laws related to safety, security, and privacy. Coordinate with compliance officers and auditors to support agency assessments or reviews. Serve as the primary liaison between the agency and local/state law enforcement, emergency responders, and other public safety partners. Prepare and present reports, incident summaries, and data analysis to agency leadership. Manage security-related technology such as surveillance systems, access control platforms, and alarm systems. Evaluate the performance and functionality of security systems; coordinate with IT or vendors as needed for upgrades or troubleshooting.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Ability to lead diverse teams, motivate personnel, and maintain accountability in high-stakes environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting, instruction, and crisis communication. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem-solving skills under pressure and in emergency scenarios. Maintains confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of the role. Skilled at de-escalating tense situations and resolving disputes diplomatically. Strong observational skills and the ability to quickly assess threats or abnormalities.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least three years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, public safety, or a related field, including one year in a leadership capacity.
