Risk Management Manager
The Risk Management Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for developing and implementing effective risk management strategies to safeguard an agency's or organization's assets, reputation, and operational efficiency. This role involves identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential risks while ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Lead the evaluation of internal and external risks across the enterprise, including operational, financial, strategic, and compliance-related risks. Conduct regular risk assessments and scenario analyses to pinpoint key vulnerabilities. Develop and update comprehensive risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks tailored to the agency’s unique needs. Formulate and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks. Design and maintain risk dashboards and key performance indicators to monitor the risk landscape. Prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and the board, communicating findings, trends, and recommendations succinctly. Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards related to risk management. Collaborate with internal audit teams and external agencies to support compliance audits and reviews. Work closely with finance, operations, information technology, and legal to integrate risk management practices throughout the agency. Lead and mentor a team of risk analysts and specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk awareness. Play a key role in the development and execution of business continuity plans, ensuring swift responses to unexpected events. Provide strategic advice during crises to minimize organizational impact.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong capabilities in data analysis and risk modeling using industry-standard tools and software (e.g., Governance, Risk, and Compliance Management software). Ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights. Excellent leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring a variety of assorted personnel. Superior written and verbal communication capabilities to engage and influence both technical and non-technical personnel. A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to make strategic decisions under pressure. In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to risk management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in risk management, financial analysis, or risk consulting in complex organizational environments. Advanced certifications such as Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM), or equivalent credentials may be required. Demonstrable experience in a leadership or supervisory role within risk management, including overseeing enterprise-wide risk assessment and mitigation initiatives in complex organizations.
