Rehabilitation Supervisor / Expert
The Rehabilitation Supervisor / Expert provides advanced training, guidance, and support to individuals with disabilities or physical limitations, empowering them to achieve greater independence and life skills. This role includes designing and implementing sophisticated rehabilitation programs, mentoring junior rehabilitation personnel, and driving innovation within the field. The Rehabilitation Supervisor / Expert is expected to have extensive knowledge of adaptive techniques and technologies, acting as a leader, educator, and advocate within the rehabilitation community.

Typical Functions:
The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency’s operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Develop and lead advanced, customized rehabilitation programs tailored to clients’ unique needs and goals. Provide specialized instruction in areas such as mobility, communication, daily living skills, and workplace integration. Serve as a mentor and trainer for junior rehabilitation personnel, sharing expertise and best practices. Conduct evaluations and implement evidence-based methodologies in an attempt to enhance program effectiveness. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, educators, and employers in an attempt to ensure holistic care. Advocate for accessibility and inclusion, addressing systemic barriers faced by individuals with disabilities. Stay at the forefront of advancements in rehabilitation techniques, tools, and technologies in an attempt to continuously improve service delivery. Present at conferences, lead workshops, and contribute to academic or professional publications. Oversee compliance with ethical standards, legal regulations, and organizational policies.

Expertise in adaptive strategies, assistive technologies, and advanced instructional techniques. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities. Proven capacity to manage complex cases and provide innovative solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a client-centered approach.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Science, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in rehabilitation instruction, rehabilitation counseling, or a related field. Extensive hands-on experience working with individuals with disabilities in varied environments. Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) may be required. Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) may be required. Certification in Assistive Technology or Specialized Rehabilitation Techniques may be required. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
