The Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients, managing medical conditions, and providing comprehensive care in alignment with state healthcare regulations. This role involves evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing medication, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.

Typical Functions:
Perform comprehensive physical exams and assess patient histories to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. Develop accurate diagnoses based on clinical findings, medical history, and test results, taking into account all relevant factors. Design and implement treatment plans tailored to the patient’s condition, including recommending medications, therapies, lifestyle changes, and interventions. Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices as necessary, adhering to best practice standards. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient visits, diagnoses, treatment plans, and outcomes in compliance with state and federal regulations. Ensure that all medical practices are compliant with state and federal laws, licensing requirements, and healthcare facility protocols. Respond appropriately to medical crises, coordinating care to stabilize patients and providing necessary treatments.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a broad range of medical conditions using evidence-based practices. In-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, along with the latest medical treatments, medications, and technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
Required Certificates:
Must hold an active and unrestricted physician license issued by the Arkansas State Medical Board. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
