Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists in preparing medications within a state government healthcare facility, correctional institution, or other state-run pharmacy setting. This role involves handling prescriptions, maintaining inventory and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and rules.

Typical Functions:
Assist pharmacists in measuring, packaging, and labeling prescription medications in compliance with Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Retrieve, count, pour, and mix medications following proper safety and handling procedures. Accurately processes prescription information in the dispensing system Operate pharmacy software and automated dispensing systems to process and track prescriptions. Maintain pharmacy stock by ordering, receiving, and organizing medications and supplies. Monitor inventory levels and expiration dates, ensuring outdated or damaged medications are properly disposed of according to laws, regulations and rules. Adhere to Arkansas Board of Pharmacy regulations, HIPAA privacy laws, and OSHA workplace safety standards. Ensure medications are stored properly according to temperature, security, and labeling requirements. Enter prescription orders into pharmacy systems with accuracy and attention to detail. Assist with maintaining pharmacy documentation, logs, and reports required for regulatory compliance. Prepare and print medication labels, ensuring patient-specific instructions are clearly indicated
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Understanding of drug classifications, dosage calculations, and medication safety protocols. Ensures accuracy in medication preparation, labeling, and patient records. Knowledge of Arkansas state laws, DEA regulations, and pharmacy best practices. Ability to track, order, and manage pharmacy stock efficiently. Familiarity with pharmacy management software, electronic health records (EHR), and automated dispensing systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Required Certificates:
Must maintain active Arkansas pharmacy technician licensure and complete any continuing education required by the state. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
