OAL QA Systems Analyst

The Office of Arkansas Lottery (OAL) Quality Assurance (QA) Systems Analyst for the Office of Arkansas Lottery is responsible for ensuring the quality, functionality, and integrity of the lottery's software systems, including the gaming system and related applications. This position involves the planning, creation, execution, and reporting of test plans and procedures, as well as identifying defects and working closely with developers and IT teams to resolve system issues. The (OAL) QA Systems Analyst plays a key role in ensuring that all systems and software meet operational and regulatory standards and perform optimally for both end-users and system administrators.

Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for both functional and non-functional testing (e.g., load testing, security testing) of software systems and lottery applications. Collaborate with developers, product managers, and vendors to identify and resolve defects or inefficiencies in the system and software applications. Ensure all systems and applications meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements before production release. Conduct regression testing to ensure that system updates do not negatively impact existing functionality. Review business and functional requirements documentation to ensure they are clear, complete, and testable. Identify and document defects and performance issues in the system or applications. Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects and performance issues in a timely manner. Collaborate with IT support teams, developers, and system administrators to troubleshoot complex system issues and identify solutions. Provide feedback and suggestions for process improvement based on quality assurance findings, software issues, and system performance data. Assist with post-deployment testing and monitoring of newly launched applications or system updates. Ensure that systems continue to function as intended once in production by performing ongoing verification and troubleshooting during the operational phase.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all components of a system function as expected, and all defects are documented and resolved appropriately. Ability to assess complex systems and processes, identify risks, and develop solutions based on thorough analysis and understanding. Adept at troubleshooting and solving issues related to software performance, defects, and system functionality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to create clear documentation, report on test findings, and collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and management.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in software quality assurance, system testing, or related IT roles are required. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
