Military Program Manager
The Military Program Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing, planning, and executing large-scale military and defense programs. This role involves managing complex projects that support active duty personnel, veterans, and their families, as well as strategic initiatives within military or defense sectors. The Manager is charged with aligning program objectives with broader agency goals, ensuring compliance with military regulations and government guidelines, and supervising multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Develop strategic plans and detailed project roadmaps for military programs, ensuring alignment with agency goals and compliance with defensive and regulatory standards. Collaborate with military leadership and a variety of assorted personnel to define program scope, objectives, and success criteria. Direct the day-to-day operations of assigned military programs, including scheduling, resource allocation, and team supervision. Monitor program milestones, track key performance indicators, and adjust plans as required to meet established deadlines and budgets. Lead budget preparation, financial forecasting, and cost management to ensure effective use of resources. Manage contracts, vendor relationships, and procurement processes to support program requirements. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with program activities. Ensure adherence to all relevant state, federal, and military regulations, including those related to defense acquisition processes. Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations detailing program performance, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate program personnel and cross-functional teams. Organize training sessions and workshops to keep teams updated on military best practices and regulatory changes.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Ability to analyze complex data, anticipate potential challenges, and develop strategic solutions to enhance program outcomes. Strong leadership skills with a track record of building, mentoring, and motivating cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear and persuasive reporting, and team direction. Proficiency in project management methodologies and familiarity with financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. In-depth understanding of risk management techniques and the ability to ensure strict compliance with all regulatory and defense-specific guidelines. Experience with project management software, data analysis tools, and the Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with specialized military or defense systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in program coordination, project management, or related fields, with significant experience in military, defense, or government program environments. Proven leadership experience in managing complex and large-scale initiatives, along with experience interfacing directly with military personnel, governmental agencies, or defense contractors. Familiarity with the military acquisition life cycle and regulatory frameworks (such as the Department of Defense regulations or Federal Acquisition Regulations).
