Media Technician
The Media Technician provides technical support for media production and broadcast activities. This includes setting up equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and assisting in the smooth operation of broadcasts. The Media Technician works under the supervision of senior staff, learning the technical aspects of broadcast production and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Set up, operate, and maintain media production equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, and audio equipment. Assist with the technical aspects of live and pre-recorded broadcasts. Troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues with equipment or production software. Help with the maintenance and inventory of media equipment. Assist other departments in the setup of live events and on-location shoots.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Basic understanding of media production equipment and technology. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions. Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s degree in media production, broadcast technology, or a related field is preferred. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
