LRAM Coordinator

The Land Rehabilitation and Maintenance (LRAM) Coordinator is charged with managing and executing projects that restore and maintain land areas for optimum operational readiness and environmental sustainability. This role focuses on coordinating activities that address issues such as erosion, soil degradation, and inadequate trail conditions. The coordinator plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing rehabilitation initiatives-from assessing land conditions to supervising remediation efforts-to ensure that designated areas, such as military training grounds or other resource-sensitive sites, remain safe, ecologically sound, and fully functional for current and future operational needs.

Typical Functions:

Develop and implement comprehensive land rehabilitation and maintenance plans tailored to the unique needs of each designated area. Establish short-term and long-term objectives that align with broader organizational goals and sustainability targets. Conduct detailed field assessments and site surveys to determine rehabilitation needs, such as erosion control, re-vegetation, and soil stabilization. Create project plans inclusive of defined scopes, timelines, technical specifications, cost estimates, and resource requirements. Initiate and execute projects in close coordination with in-house teams as well as external contractors, ensuring projects meet quality and regulatory standards. Serve as the liaison between range operations, environmental offices, training units, contractors, and regulatory agencies, securing full alignment on project goals and performance metrics. Organize and lead meetings, workshops, and briefings to communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to internal and external personnel. Ensure all rehabilitation activities comply with state and federal environmental and safety regulations. Monitor project progress, measure outcomes against established benchmarks, and compile detailed reports-including annual summaries-to support continuous improvement and regulatory compliance. Provide technical guidance during project planning and execution, ensuring the latest environmental remediation techniques and best practices are applied. Develop educational materials and training sessions to inform field crews and contributors about effective land rehabilitation and maintenance practices.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, essential for preparing clear reports and effectively coordinating with multiple departments and external entities. Strong analytical skills to assess land conditions, evaluate rehabilitation methods, and adjust strategies based on project outcomes and regulatory changes. Demonstrated ability to supervise both in-house and external teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring project clarity from conception to completion. Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain comprehensive records, manage documentation, and meet stringent deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Land Management, Natural Resource Management, Geography, Forestry, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in land rehabilitation, environmental management, or maintenance coordination. Familiarity with geographic information system technology, environmental remediation methods, and the regulatory landscape that governs land management practices may be required. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
