LP Gas Board Director

The LP Gas Board Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, regulation, and enforcement of laws and policies governing the liquefied petroleum gas (LP Gas) industry within the state of Arkansas. This role ensures the safe, effective, and compliant operation of the LP Gas industry by developing and implementing regulatory policies, managing board operations, and overseeing licensing and inspections. The LP Gas Board Director works collaboratively with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and the public to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and to promote safety and public welfare.

Typical Functions:

Develop, review, and implement policies and regulations governing the LP Gas industry in Arkansas to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. Oversee the issuance of licenses for LP Gas professionals and facilities, and coordinate inspections to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations. Lead enforcement activities, including investigations of violations, penalties, and corrective actions for non-compliance with state regulations governing the LP Gas industry. Develop and promote safety programs to educate the public, industry professionals, and stakeholders about safe practices in the handling, storage, and transportation of LP Gas. Foster positive relationships with industry stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and other governmental bodies to promote effective governance and improve the safety standards of the LP Gas industry. Maintain accurate records of licenses, inspections, violations, and regulatory activities. Prepare detailed reports for senior leadership and other stakeholders regarding the status of LP Gas industry compliance. Manage the budget and resources for the LP Gas Board, ensuring efficient use of funds and aligning resources with strategic goals and initiatives. Coordinate public education campaigns and training programs to enhance awareness of safety standards and regulations concerning LP Gas. Serve as an expert advisor to the Governor, state legislature, and other regulatory bodies regarding matters related to the LP Gas industry.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Strong understanding of state and federal regulations governing the LP Gas industry, including safety standards, environmental impact considerations, and industry best practices. In-depth knowledge of safety protocols for the handling, storage, and transportation of LP Gas, including the ability to interpret and apply safety standards. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team, while fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and safety. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate regulations, policies, and safety procedures to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze complex regulatory issues, evaluate compliance, and recommend corrective actions. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including industry professionals, regulatory agencies, public safety officials, and the general public. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, initiatives, and responsibilities simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of performance. Experience in managing budgets and allocating resources effectively within a governmental agency or similar environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, environmental science, or a related field. A master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. At least 6-9 years of experience in regulatory affairs, public administration, or safety compliance, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role. Previous experience in the LP Gas industry or a related field is preferred.

Required Certificates:

Certification or training in LP Gas safety standards, hazardous materials handling, or regulatory compliance is preferred. Must be able to obtain any required certifications or licenses related to LP Gas regulation in Arkansas. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
