Licensed Master Social Worker
The Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) provides direct and indirect social work services to individuals, families, and groups in accordance with state and federal laws and the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board standards. This role supports vulnerable and underserved populations by performing assessments, implementing service plans, advocating for client needs, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Typical Functions:
Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments of clients to determine service needs and eligibility. Conducting evidence-based therapy for individual and group counseling. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment or service plans. Provide case management services, including referrals to housing, employment, healthcare, and behavioral health resources. Participate in clinical supervision from Licensed Certified Social Workers. Deliver supportive counseling, education, and advocacy services to clients and families. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, state agencies, and community organizations to coordinate client care. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards. Participate in crisis response and de-escalation efforts for clients in acute distress. Prepare detailed reports, progress notes, and court or administrative documentation as required. Assist in program planning, quality improvement, and compliance initiatives within the assigned division or department. Maintain professional ethics and competencies through continued education and training. May participate in discharge planning and establishing continuity of care with clients.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of mental health principles, social work theories and practices, and crisis intervention techniques. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the NASW Code of Ethics. Ability to conduct interviews and assessments, keep accurate and detailed records, and manage disputes. Ability to provide clinical consultation and/or clinical supervision to subordinate staff. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse communities, develop and coordinate individualized service plans for case records, and make sound decisions in high-stress situations. Skilled in time management, organization, and problem solving.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in social work and at least two years of experience in mental health clinics, corrections, child welfare, social work, or a related field. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
Required Certificates:
Must be a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Arkansas. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
