Library Manager
The Library Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management within the Arkansas State Library. This role involves supervising library personnel, developing and implementing library programs and services, managing the library's budget and resources, and ensuring the library meets its pre-determined needs. The Library Manager collaborates with community organizations, educational agencies, educational institutions, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to promote literacy, access to information, and lifelong learning.

Typical Functions:
Oversee the daily operations of the library, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery. Develop, implement, and evaluate library programs, services, and initiatives in an attempt to enhance agency operations. Supervise and provide leadership to library personnel, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Manage the library’s budget, resources, and financial planning, ensuring efficient use of funds. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in library management. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to library activities, programs, and performance. Promote library services and programs through community outreach, marketing, and partnerships. Organize and coordinate events, workshops, and activities that promote literacy, education, and access to information. Cultivate a work environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Stay current with the latest developments and trends in library science and information management.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Empathy and patience in working with a variety of assorted personnel. Proficiency in using library and information management systems and software.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program. Minimum of 10 years of experience in library management or a related field. Comprehensive knowledge of library science principles, practices, and technologies. Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of assorted personnel, including community leaders, educators, and library personnel. Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to library services. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in library science and information management.
