Investment Supervisor / Expert
The Investment Supervisor / Expert is a seasoned professional responsible for conducting advanced research, analysis, and evaluation of investment opportunities to inform strategic decision-making. This role entails assessing complex financial data, market trends, and economic indicators to maximize portfolio performance and minimize risks. The Investment Supervisor / Expert provides leadership, mentors junior analysts, and acts as a trusted advisor to portfolio managers and a variety of assorted personnel.

Typical Functions:
The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency’s operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Lead in-depth analysis of companies, industries, and market conditions to identify profitable investment opportunities. Develop and refine complex financial models to forecast returns and assess risk exposure. Evaluate macroeconomic and geopolitical developments and their impact on various asset classes. Monitor and analyze portfolio performance, recommending adjustments to align with strategic goals. Prepare comprehensive investment reports and presentations for executive teams or boards. Advise portfolio managers on asset allocation strategies, investment policy adjustments, and risk mitigation measures. Collaborate with other investment professionals to design and implement forward-thinking investment strategies. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior investment analysts, fostering their development. Stay updated on emerging financial trends, new investment products, and innovative analytical tools. Represent the agency or organization at industry events and conferences, building relationships and showcasing expertise.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills to interpret complex financial data accurately. Comprehensive knowledge of financial markets, asset classes, and investment strategies. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide junior analysts and collaborate with teams. Superior written and verbal communication skills for presenting sophisticated analyses to a variety of audiences. High adaptability to changing market conditions and regulatory environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, or financial research. Professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Financial Risk Manager (FRM) may be required. Demonstrated expertise in evaluating complex financial instruments, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative investments. A proven track record of delivering actionable investment recommendations and contributing to the success of large portfolios. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
