Typical Functions:

The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency’s operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Lead and execute comprehensive investigations into intricate cases, utilizing advanced techniques to collect, analyze, and validate evidence. Develop investigation plans that include risk assessments, timelines, and resource allocations. Employ specialized tools and methodologies for gathering digital, physical, and testimonial evidence. Analyze large volumes of data to identify trends, inconsistencies, and critical leads that support investigative hypotheses. Prepare detailed, well-organized reports that document investigative processes, methodologies, findings, and recommended actions. Present findings clearly in legal settings, regulatory hearings, or to a variety of assorted personnel, ensuring all documentation meets admissibility standards. Serve as a subject matter expert by providing guidance and mentorship to junior investigators and team members. Review, refine, and standardize investigative methodologies and processes, integrating emerging technologies and best practices. Collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies, legal departments, and regulatory bodies to ensure investigations are conducted within the framework of applicable laws and regulations. Act as a liaison to facilitate cross-functional coordination during high-stakes investigations. Stay updated on evolving investigative trends, digital forensic tools, legal changes, and industry standards. Ensure each investigation complies with relevant ethical standards, legal requirements, and internal policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 8 Years of relevant investigative experience is required. This may include practical experience in law enforcement, corporate compliance, internal audit, or a similar investigative role. Proven expertise in handling complex investigations, with a track record of independently managing high-impact cases. Experience in areas such as digital forensics, corporate fraud, regulatory compliance, or criminal investigations is essential. Specialized certifications (e.g., Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Forensic Investigator) may be required. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
