Investigations Manager

The Investigations Manager is a senior-level leader responsible for overseeing a team of professional investigators who conduct detailed investigations into internal, regulatory, and external issues-ranging from fraud and misconduct to compliance violations and process irregularities. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of investigative operations, ensuring that all investigations follow established legal, ethical, and organizational protocols. The Investigations Manager serves as both a mentor and a subject matter expert, continuously refining investigative processes, guiding case analysis, and collaborating with internal and external personnel in an attempt to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights.

Typical Functions:

Oversee daily operations of the investigations team, ensuring workload balance and adherence to investigative timelines. Recruit, train, and mentor investigators, fostering professional development and maintaining high-performance standards. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to optimize team effectiveness. Develop, implement, and continuously improve investigative protocols and standard operating procedures that align with pre-determined legal requirements and agency policies. Set investigative priorities based on risk assessments, emerging trends, and organizational needs. Lead strategy sessions to address recurring issues and identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of investigation processes. Review and validate investigation plans, ensuring that each case is methodically planned, executed, and documented according to best practices. Analyze investigative reports to identify patterns, trends, and root causes, and recommend corrective actions or procedural improvements. Ensure all investigations maintain the highest standards of objectivity, accuracy, and integrity. Prepare and present comprehensive reports and briefings to senior management, outlining investigative findings, risks, and recommended actions. Serve as a trusted advisor on investigative matters during organizational audits or external reviews. Manage agency budgets, procurement of investigative tools, and technology to support data collection, analysis, and secure evidence handling. Ensure that all investigation activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Monitor industry trends and implement advanced investigative techniques and digital forensic tools to keep the department at the forefront of the field.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, influence, and coordinate a varied team of investigators. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and presentations. Exceptional analytical abilities to interpret complex information, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions. Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity in all investigative work. Familiarity with modern investigative tools, digital forensic software, and secure evidence management systems. Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 10 Years of relevant investigative experience is required. This may include practical experience in law enforcement, corporate compliance, internal audit, or a similar investigative role. Proven experience in handling complex investigations, with a track record of successfully managing cases that require detailed evidence collection, advanced data analysis, and strategic problem-solving. Specialized certifications (e.g., Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Forensic Investigator) may be required.
