Election Coordinator

The Election Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient, transparent, and lawful administration of elections in the state of Arkansas. This position is responsible for the coordination and oversight of election programs, initiatives, and systems that promote voter engagement, election security, and compliance with state and federal election laws. The Election Coordinator works closely with local election officials, state agencies, and the public to ensure that election processes are effective, accessible, and fair. The Election Coordinator may also assist a legal team in conducting investigations into fraud. This position is highly involved in the planning and implementation of election-related programs, training, outreach, and compliance efforts.

Typical Functions:

Oversee the development and implementation of election programs that align with state and federal election laws, including voter registration drives, voter education initiatives, and election security programs. Collaborate with state and local agencies to identify areas for program improvement and efficiency, ensuring that Arkansas elections are administered effectively and in compliance with all regulations. Monitor the progress of election-related programs and provide regular reports to the State Board of Election Commissioners and other stakeholders. Ensure that all election program data, including voter registration statistics, election outcomes, and other key metrics, are accurately collected, analyzed, and reported. May develop and deliver training programs for local election officials and volunteers on election laws, voting procedures, election-day operations, and other relevant topics. May work alongside attorneys to assist with investigations into election fraud or questionable claims. Ensure that local election offices have access to up-to-date resources and training materials to perform their duties accurately and efficiently. Maintain familiarity with new election laws and regulations to ensure that all programs and procedures are updated in accordance with legal requirements. Serve as the point of contact for local election officials regarding questions, training, and program implementation.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High level of attention to detail when reviewing election-related data, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Ability to spot discrepancies or issues early and resolve them efficiently to prevent problems during elections. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex election procedures in clear and simple terms to the public, media, and stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, election officials, and the public in a professional and effective manner. Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions quickly, especially during election cycles when issues may arise on short notice. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot election-related issues and work with teams to resolve them in a timely and efficient manner. In-depth knowledge of Arkansas state election laws, voting rights, and election processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least three (3) years of administrative experience as an assistant to an executive or in a legal office. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
