Early Childhood Program Administrator

The Early Childhood Program Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of early childhood education programs. This role involves designing and implementing curriculum, supervising subordinate personnel, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children. The administrator will also collaborate with parents, educators, and the community to support the development and success of the program.

Typical Functions:

Develop and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 0-5 years. Hire, train, and supervise early childhood educators and subordinate personnel. Ensure that the program complies with all state, federal, and local regulations, including health and safety standards. Monitor and assess program quality and effectiveness, making improvements as necessary. Maintain accurate records and documentation, including children’s progress and subordinate personnel performance. Coordinate with parents and guardians to address concerns, provide updates, and involve them in their children’s education. Manage program budgets, resources, and supplies efficiently. Organize professional development opportunities for subordinate personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children. Act as a liaison between the program and external agencies, organizations, and stakeholders.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Empathy and patience in dealing with children and families. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships. Proficiency in using educational technology and software.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 12 years of experience in early childhood education, including at least 6 years in an administrative, managerial, or supervisory role. In-depth knowledge of early childhood education principles, practices, and curriculum development. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experience with budget management and financial planning. Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to early childhood programs. Certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Ability to work effectively with children, families, community partners, and a variety of personnel. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in early childhood education.
