Disability Senior Physician Specialist

The Disability Senior Physician Specialist provides high-level medical evaluations and determinations for individuals seeking disability benefits in Arkansas. Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Conduct comprehensive medical reviews and evaluations of individuals applying for disability benefits. Assess medical records, test results, and other relevant documentation to determine the impact of medical conditions on an individual’s ability to perform work-related activities. Work collaboratively with other medical professionals and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely disability determinations. Provide written and oral reports detailing medical findings and recommendations. Participate in internal and external audits of disability evaluation processes to ensure compliance with regulations. Stay informed about changes in medical practices, disability laws, and relevant regulations.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

In-depth knowledge of medical conditions and their effects on individuals’ functionality. Ability to interpret complex medical records and diagnostic information. Strong understanding of disability evaluation procedures and relevant legal standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with other team members. Proficient in the use of electronic health record systems and medical documentation tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school. Active, unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Arkansas. Minimum of five years of experience in a clinical or disability evaluation setting. Experience in evaluating disability claims or in a related area is preferred. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
