Disability Division Director
The Disability Division Director is the highest-level position within the division, responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, and oversight of all disability-related programs, services, and staff. The Director ensures that the division's operations align with state laws, policies, and best practices while addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities across Arkansas. The Director collaborates with stakeholders, including government agencies, advocacy groups, and community organizations, to enhance and expand services for individuals with disabilities.

Special Job Requirements:
Typical Functions:
Lead and direct the overall operations of the Disability Division, including program development, policy implementation, and budgeting. Develop and oversee strategies to ensure the efficient delivery of disability-related services and compliance with federal and state laws. Manage and mentor senior staff and ensure effective teamwork across the division. Serve as the division’s primary spokesperson, representing it in discussions with the governor’s office, legislature, and external agencies. Advocate for individuals with disabilities through legislative and community engagement. Provide expertise and recommendations to improve disability services and programs across Arkansas.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
In-depth understanding of state and federal disability law, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and other relevant laws and regulations. Advanced leadership, project management, and strategic planning skills. Strong communication and negotiation skills. Ability to manage large teams, foster collaboration across multiple agencies, and implement large-scale initiatives. Ability to analyze complex issues and create effective solutions for individuals with disabilities. Extensive experience in program management, budgeting, and policy development. Experience working in government or non-profit sectors providing services for individuals with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, public administration, or related field (master’s preferred). At least ten years of experience in disability services, with at least five years in a supervisory or management role.
