Data Architect

The Data Architect is a vital member of the department team, responsible for the development, design, and management of data architecture and solutions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that data strategies are aligned with organizational goals, security standards, and best practices. The Data Architect will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of data management, ensuring data integrity, optimizing data flow, and supporting analytics and reporting functions. This position requires a deep understanding of data modeling, cloud-based architecture, database management, and data integration strategies.

Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Lead the design and implementation of data architectures, data models, and data integration strategies. Create detailed documentation of data architecture, ensuring it aligns with the department’s objectives, security, and compliance standards. Develop and maintain efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing systems to ensure scalability and performance. Develop and implement data governance policies to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and security across all systems. Oversee data quality initiatives, ensuring data is accessible, clean, and reliable for reporting and analysis purposes. Ensure compliance with state and federal data security regulations. Provide expertise on the integration of new technologies and tools into the existing data architecture framework. Lead data architecture discussions and collaborate with other departments to optimize data flows across systems. Architect and implement cloud-based data solutions to optimize the department’s data infrastructure. Address and resolve any data-related issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Conduct root cause analysis for data issues and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. Lead and manage multiple data architecture projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Communicate progress, challenges, and risks to management and stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Extensive experience with data modeling, database design, and data integration tools (ETL, ELT, etc.). Proficiency in cloud-based data solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). In-depth understanding of SQL, NoSQL databases, and data warehousing technologies. Experience with data governance, security protocols, and data compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA). Familiarity with big data tools and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark). Strong knowledge of data pipeline architecture and data analytics platforms. Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required, plus at least seven (7) years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related field.
