Applications Coordinator

The Applications Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between an agency's or organization's information technology section, end-users, and vendors to ensure the successful implementation, maintenance, and optimization of software applications. This role involves coordinating projects, facilitating communication across teams, and overseeing the lifecycle of applications to meet business goals. The Applications Coordinator must have excellent organizational and technical skills, as they are responsible for aligning technology solutions with organizational needs while ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime.

Typical Functions:

Act as the main point of contact for all matters related to software applications within the agency or organization. Coordinate the development, testing, implementation, and updates of applications. Manage application projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are met. Collaborate with a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to gather requirements and ensure proper application functionality. Monitor the performance of applications and recommend improvements or updates. Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues, liaising with vendors or developers when necessary. Train and support end-users to ensure effective use of applications. Develop and maintain documentation, including user manuals, workflows, and training materials. Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory policies for software use and security. Stay informed about emerging application technologies and trends to provide innovative recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in application support, project coordination, or a related information technology role. Certifications in project management or specific applications (e.g., Project Management Professional, Information Technology Infrastructure Library, or vendor certifications) may be required. Proven experience in managing software application projects or deployments. Familiarity with enterprise systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (e.g., SAP, Oracle) or Customer Relationship Management platforms (e.g., Salesforce). Hands-on experience with application troubleshooting and system integration. Knowledge of best practices in software deployment and user training. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
