Agriculture Division Supervisor/Expert

The Agriculture Division Supervisor Expert is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned agricultural programs and supervising staff to ensure compliance with state and federal agricultural laws, environmental regulations, and best practices. This position requires expertise in program management, regulatory enforcement, and stakeholder engagement, as well as the ability to train, mentor, and lead a team of inspectors, analysts, and specialists.

Typical Functions:

The assignment of supervisory duties is determined by the hiring agency’s operational needs. Non-supervisory roles will serve as senior technical experts. Supervise the implementation and enforcement of agricultural policies, licensing, and inspection programs. Ensure state and federal agricultural laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations are met. May conduct reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure program effectiveness and compliance. Provide technical expertise on agriculture-related issues, permitting, and regulatory procedures. Lead and mentor a team of agriculture inspectors, analysts, and administrative personnel. May assign work, monitor productivity, and ensure that all staff members adhere to policies and procedures. Review inspection reports, compliance data, and regulatory findings to identify trends and potential issues. Prepare detailed reports, policy recommendations, and program performance evaluations. Use data-driven insights to improve program efficiency and effectiveness. Ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining program integrity and service quality. Oversee contracts, grants, and funding opportunities for agricultural initiatives.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Strong understanding of agriculture, environmental regulations, food safety, and rural development programs. Familiarity with Arkansas agricultural laws, grant management, and enforcement procedures. Ability to interpret scientific data, market trends, and regulatory updates. Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team to achieve goals. Skilled in managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

At least two years of experience in agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, program supervision, or a related field.
